This season of the American version of Big Brother (the UK has its own history of racist housemates and is airing at the same time) was almost entirely without note until a gaggle of housemates got together for a series of bigoted attacks against the other housemates.
With the entirety of this episode happening in the live feeds and the edited shows being so heavily redacted by CBS, even many fans were unaware of what was happening until a few fans recorded and disseminated the worst of what was happening including racist, sexist, and homophobic remarks made by more than one person in the house.
It was such casual discrimination, it was as though they were discussing what they ate for lunch, when they were really making DISGUSTING remarks about the other housemates. A fan on one forum notes some examples and there’s video showing what actually happened in context…

For her part in this mess, Aaryn Gries has been dropped by her representation.
Her modelling agency Zephyr Talent in Austin, Texas tells TMZ they’re dropping her for behaviour that does not reflect their own standards or beliefs. ”Aaryn, season 15 cast member of Big Brother, revealed prejudices and other beliefs that we (Zephyr Talent) do not condone.” Zephyr sats in a statement, ” We certainly find the statements made by Aaryn on the live Internet feed to be offensive. Upon much consideration, we have decided to release Aaryn from her contract with Zephyr Talent.”
UPDATE: GinaMarie Zimmerman was also FIRED for her racist remarks, above.
East Coast USA Pageant, Inc. fired Zimmerman, a 32-year-old pageant coordinator. Her bosses say they’ve never had a problem with her in five years of employment and encouraged pageant girls to watch the show and vote thinking Zimmerman would be a good role model.
“We have never known this side of GinaMarie or have ever witnessed such acts of racism in the past,” said the pageant company in a statement. ”We are actually thankful that this show let us see GinaMarie for who she truly is. We would never want her to be a role model to our future contestants. In a business where we are surrounded by beauty every day we are saddened to see something so ugly come from someone we put on a very high pedestal.”
