According to Us Weekly Magazine, it appears Britney Spears’ days as a host on the Fox talent show The X Factor are over. It was previously reported that Spears was an absolute lock for season three. However, it’s now being reported that Spears as well as fellow newcomer Demi Lovato will not be back next year.
Us Weekly is speculating that producers are extremely unhappy with paying Spears $15 million-per-season just to say “amazing” and deliver “half-claps.” An unnamed source has said that Simon Cowell himself is spearheading the initiative to fire Spears because he was hoping that viewers would get “Crazy Spears” and instead they have gotten “Bland and boring Britney.”
What can be confirmed with absolute certainty is that Spears is taking home a sizable income for a television talent show that has failed to produce better-than-average prime time ratings and any notable mainstream talent.
When Spears signed on to the The X Factor last year, I, along with millions of others, expected crazy soundbites and erratic behavior which would have carried the show to a higher plateau. Perhaps Spears’ mind was preoccupied with the events leading up to her failing and now “officially failed” engagement to Jason Trawick.
And then there are the rumours of Lovato’s departure. After the end of the season, Lovato dropped these tweets on her twitter account.
* “I’m really really really gonna miss working with L.A. Reid. So many laughs and inside jokes, truly blessed to know you L.A., love you so much…”
* “Also I’m going to miss sitting next to the STUNNING, gorgeous and down to earth Britney Spears, I’m gonna miss you!”
* “And my fans, you are my family!! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!! Thank you for watching me and supporting me on THE X-FACTOR USA” - Demi Lovato’s Twitter.
However, Lovato’s reps are telling GossipCop.com that her tweets about her departure were only referring to her offering her well wishes for the season’s end and are not a statement of departure. You be the judge.
