Jennifer Lawrence is getting a lot of attention right now, as the female lead in what may become the highest grossing franchise of its ilk superseding Twilight.
Lawrence is profiled in Rolling Stone’s April 12, 2012 issue. In which The Hunger Games co-star Woody Harrelson recalls their first meeting as does the daughter of co-star Lenny Kravitz, Lawrence’s best friend Zoe with whom Lawrence starred in X-Men: First Class.
It’s an interview about first impressions, and Lawrence certainly makes one on the interviewer as you can see in the excerpts below. Lawrence was naked within a few meetings with now-BFF Zoe. Lawrence asked inquisitively about Harrelson’s “sex swing,” during their first conversation. And Lawrence peed in a bush, pre-interview.
Moving on. There’s a bunch of scandal about The Hunger Games casting.
There’s scandal with people who pictured a Native American girl playing Katniss. Some were perturbed when a White, blonde girl landed the role (Lawrence acquiesced to dying her hair darker, to placate the worst of the purists and to closer fit the character’s description in the books). Moreover, there’s a LOT of racist whining about the casting of Rue, Thresh, and Cinna when the former two of whom are described as dark-skinned in the books.
Then there’s the fat-shaming, about Lawrence in particular.
* For example, The Hollywod Reporter noted the 21-year-old’s “lingering baby fat.”
* Salon noted she looked “well-fed” and “too fat” throughout.
* Variety said the starvation theme “barely even seems to register” because of the cast’s looks.
* Hollywood Elsewhere called Lawrence a “fairly tall, big-boned lady,” too big to act opposite Josh Hutcherson, 19, who appears much shorter than Lawrence’s 5 foot 7 inches and Liam Hemsworth’s 6 foot 5 inches. Elsewhere adds Hemsworth, a “six-footer or thereabouts, has no problem on this score.”
In all fairness, Hemsworth had to lose some weight although he wasn’t asked so much as given a trainer by producers. Stunned, the 22-year-old asked Thor actor brother Chris Hemsworth, 28, who concurred, noting it’s “called The Hunger Games, not The Eating Games.”
Here are some excerpts from the Rolling Stone piece, with recent candids and the cover below.
Friend and X-Men: First Class co-star Zoe Kravitz, daughter of The Hunger Games’ actor Lenny, says of Lawrence getting naked really early in the friendship: “I’d met her a few times, and she was like, ‘You should come over and we’ll hang out.’ So I go over to her apartment, and she opens the door in a towel. She’s like, ‘Come in, sorry, you’re early, I was about to shower.’ And she drops her towel and gets in the shower, and starts shaving her legs, totally naked. She was like, ‘Are we here yet? Is this OK?’ And I was like, ‘I guess we’re there!’”
Co-star Woody Harrelson recalls the time he first met her: “I was on my bus, and on my bus I have a yoga swing. Jennifer comes on, and she goes, ‘Hi, Woody, I’m J… is that a sex swing?’ Her first sentence to me.”
Josh Hutcherson, also from The Hunger Games, said of Lawrence: “When I got cast, she called me up for one of those five-minute ‘Excited to work with you, blah, blah, blah’ things. The conversation started with her saying, ‘Think about a catheter going in… ouch!’ and then turns into a 45-minute rant about zombies and the apocalypse.”
…noted because the Rolling Stone interviewer is intrigued by how Lawrence makes a first impression: “I have to pee so bad,” Lawrence said, right off, while driving. At the location, Lawrence runs off and pees in a bush, returning with her pants still partly unbuttoned. She says: “I’m the fastest pee-er ever, I’m famous for it.” – via Rolling Stone Magazine.

OMG I love her so much lol
