Kim Kardashian got a lot of flack for hiding out with her newborn for two months and yet it’s pretty much escaped people’s notice that Jessica Simpson basically did the same thing.
Jessica gave birth early July, to her second child, son Ace Knute Johnson, whose name required a press release to explain its meaning and pronunciation. Then, she reportedly tried to sell the first photos right away only to learn there wasn’t much interest because it’s her second kid.
Apparently landing this cover before Lamar Odom’s crack addiction became news (if memory serves, her first kid kept getting bumped off the cover of PEOPLE for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s engagement), Jessica and both kids cover without her fiance and baby daddy Eric Johnson.
This is the first photo anyone’s seen of Ace and it’s only about the second postpartum photo fans have seen of Jessica this time around.
Boy, meet world! Almost two months to the day after welcoming her second child with fiance Eric Johnson, Jessica Simpson is still basking in the glow of new motherhood — and proudly showing off her adorable new son on the cover of Us Weekly!
Posing with baby boy Ace, daughter Maxwell, 15 months, and former NFL star Johnson at their home in Hidden Hills, Calif., on Aug. 12, the fashion mogul was positively radiant. In an exclusive interview for the Sept. 9 issue of the magazine, she opened up about becoming a second-time mom, dealing with “hurtful” weight bullies, and planning for the future of her family.
“With two kids, we have our hands full, but every day is a new adventure,” the 33-year-old singer, who gave birth to Ace via planned C-section on June 30, told Us. “It’s fun! I feel very at peace with being a mom.”
That said, she’s not eager to add to her brood anytime soon — if at all. Simpson found out she was pregnant with Ace less than six months after giving birth to Maxwell, so she’s looking forward to just settling in as a mom of two.
“Pregnancy is a lot. It was hard to do two so close together,” she confessed to Us. “I have this huge sense of accomplishment, and I feel in my heart that I’m done. But obviously, accidents do happen!” - via Us Weekly Magazine.
UPDATE: Ace’s Us Weekly cover earned Jessica $100,000. By comparison, Maxwell’s photos earned about $3 million on the cover of PEOPLE (although, Maxwell is a first child which is always worth more).
