The Bachelor Season 17 Episode Six Recap: Part Two

The Bachelor Season 17 Episode Recap Photo

Desiree got the coveted one-on-one date and the girls are upset that this is her second. She’ll be in the top 3 for sure in the finale. Sean wants to show Desiree how special and important she is to him especially after their awkward discussion last episode.

The activity part of their date is a hike and to propel down the mountain. ABC is really pushing how “outdoorsy” and “masculine” Sean is with all these dates. All the girls ever do is hike and climb mountains and then get dressed up for dinner dates. During the dinner portion of their date, Desiree reveals how she often lived in tents for four months or longer while her parents tried finding places for them to live. She grew up in a trailer park or small apartments and didn’t have a lot of money. She doesn’t place importance on money for that reason. Sean is intrigued by her ability to open up and how her experiences shaped who she is. It’s interesting how this season real life is discussed and the girls aren’t made up to be something they aren’t except for Tierra. Sean predictably gives Desiree the rose and the camera pans out while they kiss. ABC cameramen have that move down.

On to the cocktail party….Here are the highlights!

Selma gives Sean a peck on the lips and breaks her no kissing rule. She is really trying to secure a rose. Lindsay is trying to not use all their time kissing (ding ding ding, I was waiting for her to come to that realization). They flirt and eventually end up kissing. They are goofy together and it works. Sean ties a scarf over AshLee’s eyes and leads her to a couch to make out. This is actually a big symbol of how AshLee feels the need to control everything in her life since, at an early age, she never felt loved or wanted by her parents. I like AshLee and hope she’s able to work through these issues of control and abandonment, which might be for Dr. Phil or Oprah to discuss.

The roses go to Lindsay, Leslie, Desiree, AshLee, and Tierra. Shockingly, Selma is sent home, which doesn’t make sense to me. Daniella was finally sent home and she never spent enough time with Sean to develop any ties. Unfortunately, Tierra sticks around for another episode.
