Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt: How Much Was The Ring? How Many Carats?
April 13, 2012 by Hollywoodite
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are engaged although no wedding date has been set.
The news broke on The Hollywood Reporter because the tabloids somehow missed the coup of the year that Jolie had been wearing a diamond engagement ring in public since… at least… Wednesday April 11 (most tabloid deadlines are Mondays, at the latest, and their covers are released Wednesdays, however there’s nothing stopping them from landing a mid-week online-only exclusive).
The jeweller who designed Jolie’s ring issued a statement, breaking the news, taking credit and saying Pitt spent one year on the creation.
Pitt’s manager Cynthia Pett-Dante confirmed the engagement to the Associated Press and People Magazine: “Yes, it’s confirmed. It is a promise for the future and their kids are very happy. There’s no date set at this time.”
Us Weekly claims the ring cost approximately $500,000. With a seven-carat center stone and a total 16-carats around the yellow gold band. Expert Michael O’Connor tells the tabloid: “Emerald cut diamonds have fewer facets so they’re don’t have the sparkle of other cuts, but that also means that they need to be the best quality. The light returned from a diamond like this is pure and white. Since Brad and Angelina always choose elements that are deeply symbolic and emotional, it’s no doubt that Brad chose a platinum setting to symbolize a love that will never fade, since this ring will become a piece of heirloom jewellery.”
However, People Magazine claims it’s a $1 million ring with a total estimated weight of 10-carats.
Jolie’s father Jon Voight reacted to the news, telling Us Weekly: “I’m very happy for them.”
Jolie, 36, and Pitt, 48, have been together since 2005 and have six children: Maddox, 10, Pax, 8, Zahara, 7, Shiloh, 5 and twins Knox and Vivienne, 3.
