Celine Dion On Good Morning America Reacting To Whitney Houston’s Death
February 14, 2012 by Hollywoodite
Celine Dion is another person belatedly offering a reaction to the death of Whitney Houston.
In contrast to Beyonce’s statement in which the 30-year-old lamented the death as an untimely waste, or Jennifer Hudson who sang a tribute at the Grammys for which she struggled to rehearse only to claim the following day “It was the greatest honor of my life to be able to be the one to pay tribute to Whitney’s memory. It was from my heart. I haven’t stopped crying since she passed. Her family is in my prayers,” Dion phoned in to Good Morning America Monday to say Houston’s passing was inevitable and her own doing (also offering personal anecdotes that were overshadowed by the following)…
“It’s just really unfortunate that drugs, bad people, bad influences took over her dreams, her motherhood,” said Celine Dion said on GMA. “When you think about Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson… To get into drugs like that for whatever reason; because of stress, bad influence, whatever.”
“What happens when you have everything? Love, support, motherhood… Something happens that I don’t understand. That’s why I’m scared of show business, of drugs and hanging out. That’s why I don’t go to parties!”
In related news: Houston’s final movie, Sparkle, a remake of a 1976 movie loosely based on The Supremes, co-starring Jordin Sparks, has been pushed forward to an August 2012 release or possibly earlier. Houston acted in the film, was executive producer, and contributed two songs to the Sparkle soundtrack.
A source tells RadarOnline.com: “Dates are being discussed. It’s still early, but the reasoning is that Whitney’s fans will want to see her in this movie, in which she gives a remarkable performance. This absolutely isn’t being done to make money. The studio bosses want the public to remember Whitney as a brilliant performer and stunning actress. The execs are going to be sensitive to her death”
