MTV’s Buckwild Cast: Shain Gandee’s Confederate Flag & Southern Pride On MySpace

The cast of MTV’s Buckwild is probably about to blow up, as did Jersey Shore the early years (if you need reminding of how far they’ve come, just go back and watch clips from Jersey Shore seasons one and two).
Its replacement is Buckwild, which MTV is billing as an “authentic comedic series following an outrageous group of childhood friends from the rural foothills of West Virginia who love to dodge grown-up responsibilities and always live life with the carefree motto, ‘Whatever happens, happens.’ Money might be tight in their neck of the woods, but whether they’re throwing a dump truck pool party or building their own human slingshot, nothing stops them from making their own entertainment. Love and relationships come and go, but their bond with family and friends is always at the core for this eccentric group where anything goes!” The first part of which may or may not be true.
In any case, it’s time to meet the cast now their bios and full names have been released.
Shain Gandee is supposed to be one of the “rough and ready” boys of the group. On the season one trailer, he says he “don’t have no phone, Facebook… none of that internet stuff.” Which isn’t quite true because Gandee has a MySpace that’s still live although it was last active “1/11/12.”
On his MySpace, he is listed as age “21″ from “Sissonville, West Virginia.”
He lists his interests as “hunt[ing], fish[ing], riding.” His favourite shows include “dukes of hazzard, smokie and the bandit, redneck wedding” and he lists “god” not capitalised under “Heroes.”
The MySpace bio says he is/ was in a relationship, he’s straight, Christian “other”, with a high school education, and doesn’t want kids. An out-of-date blurb says: ”well im shain gandee 18 years old (he’s now 21) from sisonville west virginia and i have 1 older sister,and i like to hunt and fish,and ride 4-wheelers and go muddin with buds cars.” Immediately under which is a Southern Pride blingee and confederate flag (he’s also laying on a confederate flag in his photos and cast mate Ashley Whitt is in one of her own photos wearing nothing but the confederate flag).
His MTV bio says he’s “Gandee Candy”: “Everyone in Sissonville, W. Va. knows Shain. Sociable and loyal, he was the high school Prom King, but missed the dance because he had to work. He’s done every job from coal mining to being a garbage man but as long as he is using his hands, he’s happy. He loves mudding, hunting and four-wheeling but most of all he loves his parents, who live three doors down.”
Included are some photos from Gandee’s MySpace, last used (regularly) and last viewed by friends about three years ago.
