The Bachelor Season 17 Episode Five Recap: Part Two
February 5, 2013 by Coco Liberty
Side note: cutest moment of the night, Sean says that Catherine is someone who “all I want to do is snuggle with her.” She says, “I have a permanent smile when I’m with him or thinking about him.” That, my friend, is true infatuation and the start of a good relationship in contrast to Tierra with tears and always having to prove herself. Love is about two people, not one person complaining all the time.
Now on to the dreaded two-on-one date where we know Jackie is going to get chewed out. Tierra, Jackie, and Sean are horseback riding and even the horses foreshadow the events to come. Tierra and Sean are riding side-by-side while is Jackie falling behind. Jackie and Sean have time to talk alone. She tries to convince Sean that Tierra isn’t here for the right reasons, and Tierra has flirted with guys that come around the house, Sean doesn’t seem too worried.
During dinner, the rose is staring everyone in the face and this is definitely how Sister Wives feel. Sean pulls Tierra away to get some insight into Jackie’s claims. Tierra opens up about her 13-year relationship with a drug-addict who was in-and-out of rehab. She stuck by him and he passed away in 2009. She attaches herself to people that she cares about and she lost her best friend. Sean thinks he understands why she is the way she is, but doesn’t see the manipulative smiles and how this is a game for her behind the scenes. Sean gives Tierra the rose because Jackie hasn’t opened up as much and their relationship developed slowly in comparison.
On to the cocktail party…..
Desiree gets time alone with Sean and makes him aware of her insecurities. She needs reassurance and is having a hard time when other girls get roses. He says, “you don’t need that.” She’s doing the girl thing of hinting at the Tierra situation, but he is just “confused.” He doesn’t understand why she isn’t telling him how she feels. This is what I like to call the nothing came. When a girl is upset and when asked she is going to say “nothing.” When a girl gives you the telling eyes, the guy needs to be aware of this. Sean obviously knows something is wrong but doesn’t have time to invest in the nothing game where the guy has to ask about a million times and then a girl reveals her feelings.
Meanwhile, Tierra isn’t getting along with the girls. The girls are trying to get a reaction from her, but also her act is getting old. She just pouts when shown on camera next to the girls. Tierra says “about five girls I want gone and I wish I could punch everyone.” This is getting obnoxious! Robyn is over it and confronts her. Why does she act different in front of Sean and the cameras? Tierra is playing the victim and getting heated. She tells Robyn “maybe I have anxiety, this is petty s**t, and I’m tired of girls looking at me while I walk into a room.” My favorite line is “I’m not about to be threatened by your insecurities. If I want to get engaged, there are tons of guys I could get engaged to.” Although I’m tired of her “why me?” act, she does have a valid point. Sean is NOT the last guy on earth. All of them will be embarrassed at how they continually threw themselves at Sean. While she’s spewing off heat, Sean walks by and is upset by it.
Sean talks to Leslie about Tierra and says he isn’t naïve about the situation, yet he lets Tierra stick around regardless of her behavior. Leslie makes the point that you need to be in a relationship with someone who can be around other people not just you. Tierra doesn’t interact with the girls well and isolates herself. I feel like Leslie is giving him a kindergarten report card on Tierra who obviously “doesn’t play well with others.”
At the end, Selma, Catherine, Leslie, AshLee, Sarah, and Desiree are given roses. Selma utters “be scared” while Robyn is escorted out. Robyn says “Sean probably thought I brought the drama in the house.” Then the episode ends with Sean saying “this was tough night. I had such high hopes. Can I find my wife here? I’m not so sure.” The crisis for love begins and according to the previews more Tierra sympathy injuries to come! Can’t wait for tonight!
