In Touch Weekly Cover Says Heroin Addict Cory Monteith “Could Have Been Saved”: Tasteless?
July 17, 2013 by Hollywoodite
Not surprising at all since he died on the weekend (and since Kate Middleton didn’t give birth yet, which would have pushed literally everything else off the cover), Cory Monteith covers this week’s tabloids.
The 31-year-old Glee actor died this weekend from what has been confirmed as a heroin and alcohol overdose. The death is being covered… about as respectfully as you’d expect. Make of this what you will, but this week’s cover claims to shed light on Lea Michele’s plight and claims Monteith, a high-functioning addict who led a double life and who struggled with addiction since he was 13-years-old, “could have been saved.”
The cover says “Lea’s anguish. He could have been saved. Glee star Cory Monteith’s tragic death at 31 breaks girlfriend Lea Michele’s heart and leaves her searching for answers: Was this my fault?”
Here’s a preview from the ITW story: After learning the news that her boyfriend and Glee co-star Cory Monteith’s lifeless body was discovered on July 13 in his suite at Vancouver’s Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel, Lea Michele was inconsolable. “Lea was Cory’s biggest cheerleader and supporter of him getting sober. She is a big reason he did it. He fought for sobriety for her because she so badly wanted it for him,” says a source close to the actress. “I think she hoped she could save him.” But she couldn’t, nor could anyone else close to the troubled actor, who had a history of drug and alcohol abuse. “Lea’s still processing everything,” says an insider. “It doesn’t even seem real yet.”
