Yes, Jennifer Lawrence Knows Critics Are Calling Her “Fat”

To clarify, before even digging into the story, no, Jennifer Lawrence is not fat. She has an enviable, athletic, and healthy body type. Except many, many critics of The Hunger Games found Lawrence a little too healthy and athletic to play the lead in a movie about starving people into submission.
As mentioned before, Lawrence’s body is being criticised (to counter a little, co-star Liam Hemsworth is the only one who actually admitted losing weight for his role and there’s been criticism of 19-year-old Josh Hutcherson looking puny compared to both Lawrence and Hemsworth).
* The Hollywod Reporter noted 21-year-old Lawrence’s “lingering baby fat.” * Salon noted she looked “well-fed” and “too fat” throughout. * Variety said the starvation theme “barely even seems to register” because of the cast’s looks.
* Hollywood Elsewhere called Lawrence a “fairly tall, big-boned lady,” too big to act opposite Hutcherson.
As 13-year-old Amandla Stenberg knows about the racism directed at her, Lawrence is reportedly aware of the misdirected fat-shaming.
A source tells the Chicago Sun-Times Lawrence remains indignant in the face of body-snarking: “Jennifer told me, ‘This is hilarious. First, people say how so many actresses in Hollywood look anorexic, and now they are criticizing me for looking normal.’ Thin body images are too often adopted by young girls and women thanks to what they are constantly being shown as being attractive.”
