Adam Levine Is Creating A Comedy Based On His Life With BFF Gene Hong For NBC
August 27, 2013 by Lindsay Cronin
Adam Levine is no longer just a sexy rock star with an eye for models — he is a force to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry. Since landing a gig on The Voice years ago, Adam has ventured off into the world of television, appearing on season two of American Horror Story and signing on to the upcoming flick Can A Song Save Your Life? Now, Adam is taking a shot at producing.
According to a new report by Deadline, Adam has teamed up with his longtime friend Gene Hong to create a semi-autobiographical comedy for NBC. The project, from Universal TV and Adam’s own 222 Prods, will be based on Adam’s relationship with Gene, whom he’s loved and lived with since before they found fame.
Gene will write the pilot and executive produce alongside Adam and his childhood friend and longtime manager/producing partner Jordan Feldstein (who just happens to be the brother of funny man Jonah Hills) of 222 Prods.
This project, which was officially inked with NBC in May, isn’t the first time the two friends have teamed up to produce an NBC series. In 2011, Adam and Gene developed a karaoke bar comedy for NBC based on experiences from their younger years.
Meanwhile, Adam continues with his other NBC gig, The Voice, which will debut season 5 on September 23.
As for Gene, he’s also staying busy. In addition to writing on NBC’s hit comedy Community, he has also written a tennis dramedy feature film, Break Point, which began production last month.
