Amber Tamblyn Joins Two And A Half Men As Charlie Sheen’s Character’s Lesbian Daughter
August 8, 2013 by Lindsay Cronin
Amber Tamblyn has just joined the cast of Two and a Half Men as the lesbian daughter of Charlie Sheen’s deceased character. The hit Chuck Lorre comedy has gone through a lot of cast changes in the last couple of years with Charlie Sheen’s dramatic exit as well as the equally dramatic exit of Angus T. Jones. Now that Amber has been brought aboard, the show is set to have a totally new vibe.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Amber will join the show as Jenny, “the lesbian illegitimate daughter” of Charlie Sheen’s character (Charlie Harper) who moves to L.A. to pursue a career in acting and reunite with family members including John Cryer’s character (Alan Harper).
Amber will appear in five episodes, with the possibility of nabbing a starring role.
Controversy involving the show’s cast first began in 2010 when Charlie announced that he was considering leaving the show after causing production to shut down in order for him to tend to his addiction issues in rehab. By January of 2011, Charlie had entered rehab three times in a matter of just one year. Then, on March 7 of that same year, after plenty of tiger blood and goddesses, it was announced that Charlie had gotten the boot and he was replaced by Ashton Kutcher.
As if that weren’t enough to shake the popular series, Angus T. Jones released a YouTube video in which he slammed the show, claiming it was “filth” and begging fans to stop watching. He later issued an apology, stating that he “cannot address everything that has been said or right every misstatement or misunderstanding.” Needless to say, he will not be returning to the series.
Despite all the fuss, ratings for Two and a Half Men have remained fairly steady — and impressive. Last season, the show averaged nearly 15 million viewers which is just under the show’s series high of 16.45 million.
Two and a Half Men’s eleventh season will premiere on September 26.
