Usher Solidifies Custody of Son Usher Raymond V in Court

After winning custody of his 5-year-old son Usher Raymond V in court today, Usher may have hummed the chorus of his 2004 throwback hit “Yeah” to himself.
It was surely a long day for the 34-year-old singer today while anticipating whether he would keep custody of his 5-year-old son or hand it over to his 42-year-old ex-wife Tameka Raymond. According to TMZ, Tameka challenged his role of custody after the child almost drowned in a pool while supposedly being under Usher’s watch earlier this week, although Usher’s aunt Rena was the one who was actually watching him at the time of the incident. Tameka thus felt that Usher was irresponsible and unfit to be Usher Raymond V’s primary parent, allowing incapable people to take care of their son. However, the singer’s lawyer backed him up in court, claiming that he is a “great dad” and that his sons are “thriving with him, despite the recent pool accident,” TMZ reported. Surely Tameka wanted to make sure her son was in the right hands, as she cried in court and feared that her son would possibly suffer damage to the brain or heart. All in all, Usher ended up winning the battle of custody today and even hugged Tameka after the hearing. Awkward? Maybe, but whatever has to be done to ensure that their son is okay.
The 5-year-old is still in the hospital, for differing reasons from each parent, according to TMZ. Tameka claimed that Usher Raymond V has complications like a low heart rate, while Usher insisted he is still there because doctors have not yet reported that he is 100% perfect. Congratulations to Usher, and hopefully Usher Raymond V recovers as soon as possible!
