Report: Beyonce Wants Oprah To Be Blue Ivy Carter’s Godmother

There’s a rather spurious-sounding report floating around today about who may have been chosen as Blue Ivy Carter’s godmother.
The claims come from a MediaTakeOut.com exclusive that’s been picked up by RadarOnline.com and others. According to MTO’s sources, a god mother and godfather have been chosen for The Notorious B.I.C., which feels oddly-significant and major for the rather arbitrary and uneventful task of selecting godparents for a newborn. Sources say, not that anyone appears to have tried to corroborate or confirm, Oprah and a random friend of Jay-Z have been chosen by the parents.
MediaTakeOut.com just got word that Beyonce and Jay Z have decided on who is to be their daughter Blue’s godparents and you’re not gonna believe it.
According to an extremely reliable insider, Jigga and Bey have chosen Oprah Winfrey to be the godmother, and Jay’s best friend Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith, the godfather.
So why Oprah? Well word is that Oprah has become a close personal m by family (i.e. Solange, or Bey’s best friend, her cousin Angie). – via Media TakeOut.
Um, yes, why even choose Oprah? Honestly, most people probably would have guessed Solange, Kelly Rowland, Michelle Williams (formerly of Destiny’s Child), Gwyneth Paltrow, perhaps even Michelle Obama depending on the relationship Beyonce has with her. If Oprah really is the godmother of B.I.C., then if feels rather for show and impersonal. Almost as though Beyonce and Jaz-Z wanted at least one godparent who’d make headlines. Well, this will become apparent soon enough since the couple have turned into over-sharers since Beyonce fell pregnant. They’ll probably confirm or deny their choice. Probably.
Side note: RadarOnline’s write-up on the godmother still claims Beyonce had a C-section, even though her statement claimed the singer had a “natural birth” and hospital sources confirmed to TMZ.com that a C-section had been booked to secure the facilities but she never actually had the procedure.
** UPDATE: Gayle King has denied the rumours, saying Oprah is NOT the godmother.
