Beyonce Silences Naysayers With A Solid Super Bowl XLVII Halftime Show
February 4, 2013 by Staff
If critics still doubted Beyonce’s vocal talents, those doubts were silenced on Sunday during the Super Bowl XLVII.
Earlier this week, Beyonce admitted during a press conference that she lip-synced to a pre-recorded track during her national anthem performance at the 2013 Inauguration of President Obama. This had many believing that Beyonce’s talent may be in question. But last night, she proved otherwise.
Beyonce opened the performance in all black, singing lines from her R&B hit Love on Top.
After the stage went dark, she emerged and went into her hit Crazy In Love. Her confidence, and especially her voice, strengthened.
Eventually, Beyonce was joined by her former group Destiny’s Child, they performed Bootylicious and Independent Women Part 1. This was followed with Single Ladies. After Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams left the stage, Beyonce closed the Super Bowl halftime show with the ballad, Halo, and finished by telling the crowd “Thank you for this moment, God bless y’all.”
The performance lasted approximately 13 minutes.
Beyonce’s show featured a concourse of performers who were spread out across the stage and included a giant red silhouette of Beyonce, shooting flames, and laser lights that spiraled across the stage floor. To join Beyonce on stage, Rowland and Williams were shot up from the bottom of the stage. Overall, there was no controversy.
Here’s what a few celebrities had to say on Twitter about Beyonces performance….
Michelle Obama: “Watching the #SuperBowl with family and friends. @Beyonce was phenomenal! I am so proud of her.”
Alicia Keys: “3 sista’s at the superbowl! 😉 Me, @beyonce and @iamjhud ! Cheers!! What an unforgettable day!! #SB47″
Kim Kardashian: “OMG Beyonce killed it!!! And when Destiny’s Child came out….that made my life! “Bootylicious.”
According to twitter stats, Beyonce’s performance generated 5.5 million tweets, accounting for a quarter of all tweets sent out during the entire game. Looks like Beyonce blew out the fuse out in New Orleans!
