Heather Dubrow Discusses Real Housewives Of Orange County Season 9, Gretchen And Alexis’ Reported Firings
October 2, 2013 by Lindsay Cronin
Heather Dubrow is reportedly one of the housewives left standing after a few cast cuts following The Real Housewives of Orange County’s eighth season. According to recent reports, producers have decided to eliminate Gretchen Rossi and Alexis Bellino from the series based on what is being referred to as their “dwindling story lines.”
Despite Gretchen’s over-the-top proposal during season 8, fans appear to have lost interest in her role. For years, fans have watched as Gretchen and Slade have gone back and forth about getting married and even though they are currently engaged, Gretchen recently revealed that they haven’t begun planning their wedding which seems to hint at a repeat story line going into season 9.
As for Alexis, she’s been on the chopping block for a while. After filming on the seventh season wrapped, producers replaced her with another housewife but when that woman pulled out at the last minute, they agreed to bring Alexis back.
During a recent event in Los Angeles, Heather spoke out about the alleged firings and what she thinks is best for the show going into season 9.
“You know I have no idea,” Heather explained to Wetpaint Entertainment when asked about the recent casting rumors. “Bravo hasn’t even made an announcement that we’re having a Season 9, so forget about who is coming back and who is not coming back!”
Since there is no reason why the network wouldn’t bring the show back, it’s pretty safe to assume that it will return. Still, producers seem to have plenty to do before production begins when it comes to recasting the empty roles and with sources claiming that filming is set to start sometime this month, they better hurry.
While Heather didn’t name names of whom she’d like to see recast or see stay, she did confirm that she was on board with adding a few new faces to the series.
“If we are going into a Season 9 we do need some kind of shake up,” she admitted. “It’s a reality show, it’s about relationships, and if we’re playing the same beat over and over again it’s going to get stale. I do think we need new people and new blood and the whole thing. So I just hope if we come back it’s going to be different — and I think it will be.”
