Jewel Joins The Sing-Off As Judge, Nick Lachey Returns
NBC’s reality singing competition The Sing-Off is returning to the network for a fourth season later this year and, with its return, the series will add a new face. According to a new report, Jewel will sit alongside fellow judges Shawn Stockman and Ben Folds in the place of Sara Bareilles who was added to the show during season three.
“There are very few musical artists as accomplished and talented as Jewel. Her addition to The Sing-Off judges panel, along with our stellar team of Shawn Stockman and Ben Folds, raises the showmanship of the series up another notch,” Paul Telegdy, NBC’s president of alternative and late-night programming, said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter.
Host Nick Lachey, who has been with the show since its 2009 start, will also be returning. Adds Telegdy, “The musical credentials of Nick Lachey are extraordinary, and his continued contributions to the show as host remain a huge asset.”
“I am so thrilled to welcome Jewel to our expert musical panel,” executive producer Mark Burnett said. “Jewel is one of America’s greatest singer-songwriters and is an amazing storyteller. In company with the incredible talent of Ben Folds, Shawn Stockman and Nick Lachey, this season of The Sing-Off is sure to be its best yet.”
The Sing-Off marks the third reality competition for Jewel. She has previously served as co-host on Bravo’s Platinum Hit and NBC’s Nashville Star.
The Sing-Off first debuted in December of 2009 as a five-night event but was turned into a series in 2011. For season 4, The Sing-Off will return to its original broadcasting pattern and air as a multi-night strip during the holidays.
