Abe Schmucker “Ring Shopping” To Propose To Rebecca Byler; Jeremiah Raber Admits Divorce

In a new teaser for Breaking Amish, there are some halfhearted attempts to explain away the preexisting relationships of some of the cast members.
Previously, in a statement, TLC admitted the series was inauthentic because, rather than leaving the Amish for the “first time” as initially publicised, “the members have all chosen to leave before the show.” Moreover, “There is a lot of information floating around about the group featured on Breaking Amish. Much of it is not true, but some of it is… and is addressed in upcoming episodes.”
It would appear this starts to happened from episode six (of nine) for which there’s a teaser below.
In the teaser, which is so staged you can feel the hand of the producer choreographing everything, Abe Schmucker supposedly went “ring shopping” in order to fake-propose to Rebecca Byler whom he’s actually been dating since 2010 and with whom he reportedly had a daughter between late 2010 when she was married to ex-husband Rufus Hostetler and early 2011 (while she was still married since the divorce only came through weeks ago).
After this “confession” in their hotel room, roommate Jeremiah Raber confesses he’s been married before. It’s the first time he’s talked about his ex-wife, Naomi Stutzman, the mother of his three kids whom he didn’t even mention while covering over her name in the tattoo he’s had since 2009. Raber says, simply, it ”didn’t work out.” Well, it might have worked out if he’d not physically abused his wife as shown in court records pertaining to their divorce and child custody disputes.
Raber says, in what feels like an afterthought of a cutaway: “I hope he knows what he’s doing because I was married before and it didn’t work out. So, I hope he’s not making a huge mistake doing this here.”
Schmucker explains further, he found an engagement ring for Byler but he didn’t buy it because he was “short $250.” Then he asks Raber to borrow the money.
