Abercrombie & Fitch Feel the Wrath of Taylor Swift’s Followers

It seems Abercrombie & Fitch can’t catch a break. The clothing line has run itself right into yet another controversy. This time involving Taylor Swift.

The So Cal company took fire from Swifties this week after they sold a shirt that read “# more boyfriends than t.s.” Now, it’s not news that Taylor Swift dates (look at the jab Tina Fey and Amy Pohler unleashed at the Golden Globes). Anyone who has listened to her songs can figure that out. Swift herself even mentioned that she doesn’t date for long. But A&F may have taken it a little too far this time.

According to Buzzfeed, the Swifties have created a petition on Change.org to remove the shirt from stores. There’s even a YouTube video where a fan calls to complain about the shirt. Allegedly, the recording on the other end of the phone says, “If you are calling regarding the Taylor Swift t-shirt, please note this is no longer available.”

A spokesperson from Abercrombie told Buzzfeed that the shirt was available at the end of February, was marked down in the middle of March and is currently no longer available. Abercrombie also said on Twitter that Taylor Swift was “awesome.”

All of this comes on the heels of A&F CEO Mike Jeffries’ comment about the clothing being “exclusionary” and only marketing to the “cool kids.”
