Full Song & Lyrics: Adele’s Skyfall James Bond Theme Went To #1 Within Hours
October 5, 2012 by Hollywoodite
A preview of Skyfall by Adele was released earlier this week to favourable reviews. The full song was released last night to even better results when it shot to number one on iTunes and in the UK charts (knocking that ridiculous novelty song Psy’s Gangnam Style off the top spot) within only 10 hours of its release.
Skyfall is the theme to the new James Bond movie of the same name.
The song, recorded at Abbey Road Studios in London, England with a 77-piece orchestra by Paul Epworth from the 21 album, is getting mixed responses. Mostly positive fan responses. And early, positive, comparisons to Shirley Bassey’s Goldfinger. Although, others are not so won over by the blandness of the lyrics which have been included below in full too.
This is the end Hold your breath and count to ten Feel the earth move and then
Hear my heart burst again
For this is the end I’ve drowned and dreamt this moment So overdue, I owe them
Swept away, I’m stolen
Let the sky fall, when it crumbles We will stand tall Face it all together Let the sky fall, when it crumbles We will stand tall And face it all together At sky fall
At sky fall
Skyfall is where we start A thousand miles and poles apart Where worlds collide and days are dark You may have my number You can take my name
But you’ll never have my heart
Let the sky fall, when it crumbles We will stand tall Face it all together Let the sky fall, when it crumbles We will stand tall And face it all together
At sky fall
Where you go I go What you see, I see I know I’d never be me Without the security Of your loving arms Keeping me from harm Put your hand in my hand
And we’ll stand
Let the sky fall, when it crumbles We will stand tall Face it all together Let the sky fall, when it crumbles We will stand tall And face it all together
At sky fall
Let the sky fall We will stand tall
At sky fall – Lyrics to Skyfall by Adele
Adele says of the song: “I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. There’s a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song. But I fell in love with the script and Paul had some great ideas for the track and it ended up being a bit of a no-brainer to do it in the end. It was also a lot of fun writing to a brief, something I’ve never done which made it exciting. When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I’ll be back combing my hair when I’m 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day, I’m sure!”
And, incidentally, Adele is probably going to give birth any day now.
