Adele Someone Like You Music Video – Black & White, Brooding, Gorgeous
Adele has finally released the music video for Someone Like You after what feels like a solid year of charting and being played ad nauseam on the radio.
The most-viewed live version of this on YouTube is ripped from The Brit Awards 2011, where she sang, stood still in a plain back dress, and the only frill was the dropping of some glitter at the end (and that felt like a tacky Brits frill, not necessarily something of her choosing). Anyway, it racked up 47 million views. 47. Million. Since its uploading in February. Some official music videos don’t get that many views. There’s also a live version of the song on Adele’s official YouTube that was recorded in her home and that has 33 million views. So despite some people being over the song already, it’s clearly popular and she got all those views with 0% smoke, mirrors, costume changes, fast-edits, auto-tune etc.

And now there’s a video. She released this sometime yesterday, so it’s just gaining speed. She looks beautiful, she sounds beautiful. There’s basically half-a-dozen cuts and very little editing. It’s black and white; brooding. She avoids eye contact until about halfway through and when she looks into the camera it’s mesmerizing. All three aforementioned versions are below.
