Amish Mafia’s Alan Lee Beiler Facing Charges of Drug Possession & Eluding Police
February 16, 2013 by Hollywoodite
Alan Lee Beiler spent most of Discovery’s axiomatically fabricated Amish Mafia evading police and then awaiting release from jail. He spent so little time interacting with the other characters that one might wonder why he was featured on the show at all. But it turns out he’s a casting director with an agency replete with Amish actors and models and existing ties to Discovery’s sister channel TLC who aired another fabricated show, Breaking Amish.
Beiler, who was adopted into the Pennsylvanian Amish community as a child and appears in local genealogy, appeared in the Perry County courthouse, in New Bloomfield on Friday facing charges of drug possession and leading Pennsylvania State Police on a high speed chase through Duncannon back in July.
The hearing was presided by Senior District Judge Donald Howell.
Fans waited outside and greeted Beiler along with news cameras on his way in.
In total, he’s facing 34 violations including “felony eluding police, nine misdemeanors, and 24 summary counts, including driving without a license,” reports Penn Live.
Beiler waved his right to a preliminary hearing, reports local CBS21 News.
State police attempted to stop Beiler, 35, of… Lancaster County, just after 9 a.m. on July 7 near the intersection of routes 11/15 and 22/322 in Reed Township, Dauphin County, because of an expired registration on his 2004 Jeep Liberty.
Instead of stopping, Beiler accelerated to 80 mph along Route 22/322 east and then entered Duncannon, police said.
He continued through the borough to Route 11/15, where he drove south in the northbound lanes and dodged at least five other cars that were traveling in the right direction, police said.
Beiler managed to get away from the pursuing troopers and drove home after one of them crashed and suffered a mild concussion, records state. One of the troopers was able to read his license plate number.
In a later interview with troopers, Beiler asked how the injured trooper was feeling, records state. Beiler also said he didn’t stop because his license had expired, troopers said.
During a search of Beiler’s Jeep, troopers found a small amount of marijuana hashish; Carisoprodol, a skeletal muscle relaxant; oxycodone; and Alprazolam, an anti-axiety drug, records state.
Beiler’s case is expected to come up again in March or April when he is scheduled for formal arraignment. – via Penn Live.
