Alec Baldwin Lands His Own MSNBC Talk Show

September 6, 2013 by Lindsay Cronin

Alec Baldwin has a lot to celebrate. Not only is he a new dad — he’s also a new talk show host. The actor has just landed a gig hosting his own current events and culture show on MSNBC.

“After two seasons of my WNYC podcast, I’ve developed a fondness for hosting a show that involved talking with smart, talented and engaging people in every imaginable field,” Alec said in a statement. “I’m grateful to MSNBC for helping me bring a similar show to television.”

Since he began hosting his own podcast, Here’s The Thing, Alec has made it no secret that he’d love to have his own show. Earlier this year, he told The Hollywood Reporter, “That show would be the pinnacle of the marriage between my political beliefs, my political curiosity and wanting to communicate to people on camera to a broader audience.”

Following Thursday’s announcement of the new weekly series, MSNBC president Phil Griffin released the following statement:

“I’ve been talking with Alec for a while and can’t wait to bring his personality and eclectic interests to MSNBC. He’s got such passion for ideas and what’s going on in the world — he’s going to be a great addition to our lineup.”

The news comes just two weeks after Alec and his wife, Hilaria Thomas Baldwin, welcomed their first child together, a baby girl whom they named Carmen Gabriela Baldwin.

Up Late with Alec Baldwin premieres in October and will air at 10:00 p.m. on Friday nights.
