Alec Baldwin Quits Twitter

June 28, 2013 by Jennifer Exley

Alec Baldwin has left Twitter again after a British reporter from The Daily Mail claimed the 30 Rock star’s wife was using her phone during James Gandolfini’s funeral. The reporter claimed Hilaria Baldwin was tweeting “upbeat posts” during the funeral. The writer pointed to tweets about wedding anniversary gifts and an upcoming appearance on Rachel Ray.

“My wife and I attended a funeral to pay our respects to an old friend,” Baldwin wrote. “And some toxic Brit writes this f—ing trash. My wife DID NOT use her phone, in any capacity, at our friend’s funeral.”

Baldwin also reportedly called the reporter, George Stark, a “toxic little queen” and said “I am gonna f— you up.”

After all of his ranting, Baldwin signed off saying, “Now f— this twitter + good luck to all of you who know the truth.”

In addition to the ranting and Twitter quitting, Baldwin also fired his publicist.

Twice before the 55-year-old actor has deactivated his Twitter account. The first was in 2011 after aiming his rants at American Airlines after the famous Words with Friends debacle. The second was shortly after he married Hilaria in July 2012. He simply tweeted “It’s been fun” and then deactivated.

Whether or not Baldwin will return to Twitter is left to be seen, but the actor and his wife have issued a statement in regards to his outbreak. They said it was “disgraceful that a reporter would manufacture and publish a story and not call for a comment or explanation – especially when it’s intended to take away attention from honoring the memory of a beloved figure like James Gandolfini.”
