Former RHONYC’s Alex McCord & Simon van Kempen “On The Verge Of A Nasty Split”

In the last week of July, The Huffington Post’s Rob Shuter reported that fired Real Housewives of New York City’s Alex McCord & Simon van Kempen would appear on VH1′s Couples Therapy. Shuter said the couple had been filming at their home and at locations around their local area with an un-seasonal cover story about shooting a Christmas video. And now, two weeks later, TMZ.com is claiming the same information as “exclusive.”

Today, TMZ says McCord and van Kempen will appear on the show because they’re “on the verge” of an acrimonious split (note: as of today, the couple is still playing happy families, sharing smiley photos, and talking to each other on Twitter).

Production sources say the couple will appear alongside Courtney Stodden, 17, and Doug Hutchison, 51, who are also blowing their “happy couple shtick” after claiming, back in December, this type of show was a poor fit.

Also on the show will be R&B singer JoJo from K-Ci & JoJo and his wife, TheDirty.com blogger Nik Richie and his wife Shayne Lamas from The Bachelor, and rapper Too $hort and his on-off girlfriend of 15-years Monica Payne.
