Amanda Bynes Leaves UCLA And Heads To Celebrity-Catered Rehab Center In Malibu

September 30, 2013 by Lindsay Cronin

Amanda Bynes is in serious need of mental care according to reports, but unfortunately, she may not be getting it. In the latest development of the ongoing Amanda saga, the former child star has left UCLA where she was being treated for schizophrenia (even though she hadn’t been diagnosed with the illness) and is now under the care of the staff at Canyon Treatment Center in Malibu.

TMZ has been informed that Amanda arrived to the Malibu rehab three weeks ago after being held at UCLA since mid-summer following a freak incident during which Amanda lit a Thousand Oaks driveway on fire after trespassing at an old folks’ home.

Since arriving to the facility, Amanda hasn’t interacted much with the other patients and “rarely leaves the area where she’s living.” Although she isn’t wearing her signature blonde wig, sources claim that she is extremely ”paranoid” about the paparazzi finding her and getting photographs of her without it.

While Canyon Treatment Center is certainly a highly respected establishment in Southern California, TMZ claims it doesn’t have the psychiatric facilities which were available at UCLA — and which Amanda desperately needs.

Currently, Amanda is on an LPS hold at Canyons “which doctors got because they were so concerned about her well-being.” Under the LPS hold (which is defined as an involuntary civil commitment to a mental health institution), doctors are typically given control of all their patient’s medical decisions. However, in this case, the doctors have handed control over to Amanda’s parents which is why they dropped their request for a conservatorship.
