Amanda Bynes’ Sanity Restored?
August 1, 2013 by Lindsay Cronin
Amanda Bynes may have just gotten off the crazy train. The troubled former child star has been in a mental hospital for over a week after two run-ins with police last Monday for trespassing at a retirement home and then essentially camping in someone’s driveway. Although Bynes was only on a mandatory 5150 hold for 72 hours, she remained at the facility where she continues to be treated — successfully.
According to TMZ, doctors have developed what they are referring to as a “cocktail” of medications to control what is believed to be schizophrenia. Sources claim that since Bynes was put on the meds, she’s been an absolute joy to have around — a far cry from the person who allegedly made a NYC hotel employee cry by telling her she was ugly and needed plastic surgery. Bynes is even saying “please” and “thank you.”
In order to find the perfect mix of medications for Bynes, doctors have tried a few different concoctions, with both different medications and in different amounts. While Bynes is doing much better, she’s still not completely in the clear. The medications she is prescribed take 7-10 days to fully kick in which means she could experience different side effects in the next couple of days. Plus, she will eventually be released from the facility and responsible for maintaining her own mental health which is where things could really take a wrong turn.
Bynes is scheduled to appear in court today regarding a possible release from treatment but since she’s doing so well with her “cocktail,” it is unlikely a judge will agree. Typically, when patients are responding well to medication, the court likes to keep them closely monitored.
Despite Bynes’ progress, her parents are still pursuing a conservatorship.
