We all knew Amanda Bynes needed help- and perhaps some serious medication. Fortunately, now she is admitting to it!

In summary, the child star has been through a series of incidents, leading the public to question her mental health. Her irrational behavior includes throwing drug peraphernalia out of a window in New York, getting kicked out of a hotel, attempting to set her pants on fire, showing up to court in a blue wig, and tweeting a slew of nonsense obsessing over physical appearances. The Los Angeles Times reported, “Rick and Lynn Bynes, in court papers filed by attorney Tamar Aminak, say the incident where the 27-year-old actress set her pants on fire in the driveway of a Thousand Oaks home is the latest episode in a series of actions.”

Amanda’s parents have requested conservatorship of Amanda, and she is currently residing in a psychiatric hospital. Although the judge originally ordered that she be held in the psych ward for 72 hours, her stay was recently extended by 2 weeks.

But there is a bright side! Amanda requested a hearing at the hospital, claiming she was being held against her will. However, she then cancelled the court date because she needed time for her medicine to take full effect. TMZ reported, “Amanda and her lawyers believe the medication she’s getting now may improve her condition and that would allow her to make a more compelling case for freedom.”

Admitting she has a problem and needs medicine is a step in the right direction for sure!
