Confirmed: Discovery’s Amish Mafia Using Name Of A Fake Lancaster Police Department

January 3, 2013 by Hollywoodite

As mentioned previously December 20, 2012 Discovery Channel has been using the name of a fake police department on Amish Mafia.

It would appear that producers fabricated “rap sheets” suitable for broadcast that included fake mug shots but used real redacted charges and real redacted convictions. For example, the supposed rap sheet broadcast for “Lebanon Levi” correlates to a real rap sheet out of Lancaster, PA. However, Discovery strongly suggests a storied history of violence while there’s only one violent felony confirmed so far, Disorderly Conduct Engage In Fighting in November 8, 2009 and the remaining arrests are for drinking driving type infractions. Discovery redacted and then embellished upon real convictions to obfuscate the truth.

Moreover, despite consternation and naysaying in the previous post, the information was accurate and has been confirmed by CBS21 and a real local police department.

Atop the purported rap sheet of “Lebanon Levi,” 33-year-old Levi King Stoltzfus, Discovery uses the name “Lancaster County Police Department.” It became apparent back in December that there was no “Lancaster County Police Department” as depicted by the reality show. Because “Lancaster County Police Department” in Lancaster, PA does not exist.

Earlier this week, PennLive.com confirmed too: “…there is no such thing [as the arresting agency “Lancaster County Police”]. There is a Lancaster City Bureau of Police, but no countywide force.”

Moreover, CBS21 picked up the story when a real local police department called out Discovery as liars on Facebook.

CBS21 reports today: “Many people are outraged with the show because it portrays itself as a reality show, but many say it’s completely fake and the producers don’t know what they’re talking about. And now those people may have some proof… In the latest episode of the Discovery Channel’s Amish Mafia, a reference was made to the Lancaster County Police. The only problem; there’s no such thing.”

Referencing a post by the Lancaster City Police Department on Facebook which says: “NAME CLARIFICATION We are the Lancaster City Police Department. We have been serving Lancaster City for well over 200 years. If you are looking for the Lancaster County Police Department, as depicted on a fictional cable TV show, you may want to look elsewhere.”

Moreover, there’s a complete list of the actual police depts in Lancaster, PA and the fabricated one used by Discovery isn’t on it.
