Amish Mafia: What Were The Ratings For Season One Episode One Of Discovery’s Amish Mafia?
December 14, 2012 by Hollywoodite
Amish Mafia is the Discovery Channel’s answer to the success of sister network TLC’s Breaking Amish.
The September 9, 2012 premiere of Breaking Amish was viewed by 3.097 million people, earning TLC its highest ratings in eight years. It would appear Amish Mafia got even more viewers for its December 12 season premiere, with a record 3.643 million. So, perhaps feeding off the success and absence of Breaking Amish, Amish Mafia had the far more successful debut.
This is despite Discovery admitting in its own press release that the show is fake. Reiterating the same during the premiere. And also admitting that, in all likelihood, there is no Amish Mafia outside of the local folklore in Lancaster, Pennsylvania (where both shows were filmed in part). Moreover, there’s evidence that Discovery and the cast were staging scenes together in August.
Also revealed during the show, the arrest record for antagonist Lebanon Levi (who appears to have taken the moniker from his real first name, Levi, and the Lebanon area of his native Pennsylvania), including verifiable arrests in the Lancaster area. He’s really 33-year-old Levi King Stoltzfus of Lancaster, PA. Date of birth June 30, 1979. He really does have a long wrap sheet, but it’s not for violent crimes (not the Lancaster arrests, anyway) but for a myriad of vehicular crimes.
