Joan Rivers: Angelina Jolie “Looked Like A Fool” Posing At The 2012 Oscars

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were the couple about whom people were most excited at the 2012 Academy Awards.
They were pretty late arriving. Insofar as they were cut out of the Associated Press’ live feed which cut 30-minutes before the close of the red carpet (the AP feed closed as Jennifer Lopez arrived). They, along with Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Lopez, were pretty much the last people to walk the carpet since there’s a perceived direct correlation between lateness and star power.
Jolie and Pitt eventually walked the red carpet together, then Jolie posed alone in her Atelier Versace dress. Holding the same pose, right leg out, left hand on hip. Then she did the same while presenting for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Screenplay. It was INCESSANT. And the winners of Best Adapted Screenplay, the team behind The Descendants, mocked Jolie’s pose after she presented them with the award. And now her right leg has its own Twitter. And Jolie-ing, as with Scarlett Johansson-ing, is a THING now.
And Joan Rivers had something to say about it. “Angelina Jolie looked like a fool the way she posed,” said Rivers, derisively. “She took herself right out of that super star category because you now realize she stands in front of a mirror to figure out [what she looks like]. Have you ever seen anybody stand with their hand on a hip with a leg thrown out to open an envelope? No. And you want to say, you idiot! You brought us back to the fact and we’ve all forgotten that you used to wear blood around your neck and French kiss your brother!”
Asked about Jolie’s thin frame, Rivers added: “That looks like Auschwitz adjacent. This is the first stupid move she’s made. She handles her own PR, career, and it’s all been very thought out. She turned around from kissing her brother on the carpet to being a representative of the United Nations and she’s done it all. She turned herself around to be a super star and you go whoops! Maybe she had a drink?”
Melissa Rivers concurred: “She was demystified! She demystified herself and it’s unfortunate because it always looks so effortless, and you think how can one person be so glamorous? It’s because she practices!”
