More Drama: Ariel Winter’s Mother Threatening To Release Nude Photos Of Shanelle Gray
Modern Family’s Ariel Winter is caught in the middle between her mother, Chrystal Workman, and her older sister/temporary guardian, Shanelle Gray.
Gray, 34, was awarded temporary custody after Winter, 14, made allegations to Child Protective Services against her mother. Winter claims that her mother was physically and emotionally abusive towards her.
TMZ.com reports: “A source who worked on the show for over a year and had constant contact with Ariel, says [Ariel’s mom] was ‘hated’ by the crew, producers, actors, and other mothers because she made Ariel’s life a living Hell. Specifically we’re told Chrystal would sit on set and watch Ariel like a hawk and then berate her for her physical appearance, saying her ears were too big and she looked ugly in her clothes. She also blocked Ariel from eating anything but egg whites and raw veggies.”
Allegedly, Workman is the typical stage mom who lives vicariously through her daughter and won’t let weight nor performance inhibit Winter from succeeding. If the crew of Modern Family had a problem with Workman’s presence, then that says it all. Winter is only a teenager, and doesn’t deserve to be treated like an overworked adult. Workman is treating Winter like a cash cow and not thinking about how her aggressive actions affect her daughter.
In addition to these abusive allegations, now Workman is threatening her other daughter, Gray.
Workman is trying to destroy Gray’s reputation by leaking nude pictures of her from eight years ago. Gray also asked to be released from her mother’s custody when she was a child actress. And Gray made similar allegations against Workman and sympathizes with Winter. Workman attempted to hire Jonathan Hay as a publicist and release nude pictures of Gray.
TMZ continues: “Jonathan Hay tells TMZ [that] the Modern Family star’s mother contacted him this week, and said she had nude photos of Shanelle [Gray] she wanted to secretly release to the public. [The publicist] claims Chrystal hounded him all week about leaking the pictures, which he says are eight or nine years old, but he refused because he felt like Chrystal was trying to ‘sell out her daughter’ and he wanted to help Ariel. Jonathan says he’s already been contacted by a member of Ariel’s legal team, but adds at this point it’s unclear how much of a role, if any, he will play in the case. Jonathan says he would have no problem filing a declaration in support of Ariel, but says he has not been asked to do so yet. Ariel’s case will be back in court on December 10.”
How does Workman have access to nude photos of her daughter? And what mother sells out her daughter to publicly embarrass her? Is this case really worth all that? Winter is already denied a normal teenage life and now her mother has to muckrake all of their family drama out for the public to see.
This isn’t the first time Workman has tried to make either of her daughters look bad. Workman also alleged that Winter’s older boyfriend should be tried for having sexual relations with a minor. Those allegations were unfounded, yet Workman won’t stop at anything to have control over Winter and the girl’s career.
