EXCLUSIVE: Bachelorette Winner Jesse Csincsak Gives A Behind-The-Scenes Look At The Hometown Dates
July 16, 2013 by Lindsay Cronin
Jesse Csincsak knows what it’s like to be in the shoes of a Bachelorette suitor. Csincsak not only appeared on the show’s fourth season, he also won the heart of that year’s star, DeAnn Pappas. While they both went on to marry different people, the experience is something Csincsak won’t soon forget.
On this week’s episode of The Bachelorette, Desiree Hartsock visited the homes of her four remaining suitors, Zak, Drew, Chris, and Brooks. While watching, fans can’t help but wonder what goes on behind-the-scenes, and Csicsak has been nice enough to answer all of the questions on everyone’s mind following tonight’s show.
What is it like for the contestants going into the hometown date?
At this point the guys are separated off camera so they cannot talk about anything that has happened on their 1 on 1 time to keep everyone’s mind right. I mean would you want to still date a girl if you knew she was out doing god knows what with a few other guys? Probably not! This is why producers keep the contestants separated and mentally distracted at this point in the game… The producers will take the guys SEPARATELY deep sea fishing or something very (NOT SO EVERYDAY) to keep your mind off of her out with other dudes.
What is the scariest part of the hometown date?
When your parents meet her and you get feedback from what they thought in the 2 hrs they got to chat with her with a full production crew in there face!!
How are the hometown dates set up as far as arrival and film time?
You arrive the night before and sleep in a hotel just down the street from where they live. The next day you spend the whole day on a date filming then you go to sleep and fly back to where production is stationed to wait for the rest of the guys to have hometowns.
Where do the men stay when they aren’t in the home with their Bachelorette?
On my hometown I was in a hotel less than 1 mile from my house with no phone in the room so I couldn’t call anyone in town and it was on like the 4th floor so no way out the window to do whatever they literally guard you night and day.
How long is the entire stay in the Bachelorette’s town?
When you meet her parents its two days of filming. When she meets yours, its one day of filming.
Do suitors spend time with the family off-camera as well or are you rushed in and rushed out fairly quickly?
No off camera anything on hometowns with family
Do the suitors spend additional time with their Bachelorette off-camera in their hometowns?
If the bachelorette really likes a guy she requests off camera time with a guy she will get it.
How much time elapses for the Bachelorette between dates?
One travel day. No time to waste!
How much time is there between the first hometown date until the rose ceremony is held?
There are 4 guys getting hometowns there is one travel day then one day filming then one travel day then another day filming so for 4 guys it would take 7-8 days to finish that episode.
The suitors can’t contact the Bachelorette at all when they aren’t with her, right?
They have no way to contact anyone remember you have to give up your cell phone, computer, etc when you sign on the show. If a new president was elected during filming and you went all the way on the show you would have no clue for almost 2 months!
How does it feel being back home in the middle of the madness of the reality show?
After being on the show and now watching its hilarious to see the producers in the background of shots that just look like normal people in the background but in reality they are producers that just look like people in a park or a man on the street but you know they are producing. Its all business when those cameras are on and you never see it that when when your on the show its just like an awesome paid date vacation.
