BB15: Aaryn “The Aryan” Gries EVICTED, Says All Texans Are Racist and She Doesn’t Remember Being A Bigot
This has been a long time coming for anyone who caught wind of the racism on the Big Brother 15 live feed that former contestants are now claiming were “taken out of context” (not on a live, unedited feed they weren’t). Previously, Aaryan Gries was caught on camera saying such a long listicle of bigoted things it cannot be reproduced here (go HERE for the list and HERE for video).
Julie Chen admitted in that, being one of the ethnicities mocked as “less than for being brown” on the show, it “stung”. In short, Aaryn had nasty things to say about the African American, Asian and gay contestants. When asked directly by Julie to explain or defend her actions, Aaryn lied to the audience that started out booing then began heckling and laughing when Aaryn “didn’t remember” being a bigot… because apparently that is a thing you can forget.
“In the early days of this game, you said some pretty harsh things about your housemates. Amanda tried to warn you, give you a heads up that some of your words others were interpreting as racist, how do you respond to that?” asked Julie.
“I did not mean to ever come off as racist,” said Aaryn, who had no idea at the time of the interview that she got fired by her modelling agency reps nor about just how much criticism she got for her behaviour.
“In Texas, we say things. Sometimes we joke and we don’t mean it. I feel how bad it is being seen and how I’ve come across to people. I don’t want to seem like that person.” That’s Aaryn’s explanation, she’s saying everyone in her hometown is racist, or backward, which is reductive, unfair, and untrue if we’re making generalisations.
Aaryn added, “I apologize to anyone I offended for that. That was not meant to be serious and if I said those things, I feel horrible for that. I regret that.”
