Bethenny Frankel: Seeking Child Support & Primary Custody; Wants Jason Hoppy OUT!
Things have become very nasty, very quickly between Bethenny Frankel and estranged husband Jason Hoppy from whom she had been living a separate life, within the same home, for months, before they decided to split. According to subsequent reports, Hoppy remained in their New York City apartment to “protect” their daughter and they originally intended to have a trial separation and to reconcile. However, two weeks later Frankel filed for divorce and the terms are a surprise to Hoppy who has been “blindsided.”
According to TMZ.com, Frankel is worth between $25 million to $55 million (her Skinny Girl money is protected by a prenup, signed five days before they got married in 2010, and an alleged postnup). And Hoppy has made good money in real estate. Frankel wants child support from Hoppy retroactive to the day she filed for divorce, she also wants medical, dental, optical, therapeutic, and orthodontic expenses for herself and the minor child, she wants life insurance that names herself and the child as beneficiaries, and she wants primary physical custody of their two-year-old daughter. She also wants Hoppy out of their home and is seeking exclusive occupancy of their apartment.
A source tells TMZ of the demands: “This is a preliminary step to move the process forward. She wants to work this out privately and amicably. All Bethenny cares about is that it works out the best way possible for Bryn.”
Another source tells RadarOnline.com this is not amicable. Moreover, it’s nasty and it’s getting personal: “Jason was blindsided by Bethenny’s request for primary custody of Bryn. The plan all along had been for them to have joint custody of the two year old. Jason believes that Bethenny has filed for primary custody so that if her talk show does shoot in Los Angeles, he won’t be allowed to object.”
And Hoppy intends to file his own papers soon: “Jason will file his response and will most likely seek joint custody of Bryn. Jason is also floored that Bethenny is asking for child support from him since she is worth at least $50 million. This divorce isn’t going to be amicable, by any means. Jason wanted this to be an amicable divorce, but when it comes to Bryn, all bets are now off. He will remain in her life as her father, and Jason won’t settle for seeing his daughter whenever Bethenny allows it. Jason is a fantastic father, and absolutely devoted to Bryn. Jason won’t be bullied by Bethenny or her lawyers.”
Frankel reacted to all these “sources” on Twitter, writing: “Very often we comment on things we know absolutely nothing about. It is human nature & it is a distraction from our own lives.”
