Bethenny Frankel Feels Like A Failure; Worries Getting Divorced Will Harm Her Career
It only took two weeks for the separation of Bethenny Frankel and estranged husband Jason Hoppy to turn nasty and end in divorce.
Early reports indicated that Frankel and Hoppy intended to work on a trial separation with the intention to reconcile at the behest of her therapist. It’s not clear what went wrong in the interim, but Frankel is reported to have “blindsided” Hoppy by asking for sole custody, child support, and the other claims she lists in her divorce filing. Hoppy intends to file his own papers soon.
Frankel has given an interview on The Ellen Show admitting she had unrealistic expectations for the marriage, since she waned the nonexistent ”fairy tale” it seems a lot of delusional grown women are aiming for.
She tells Ellen DeGeneres: “I can’t just only be on reality TV and show everything when it’s fairy princess, fairy tale and then not take my hits when I have to. I’ve kind of had the best worst year ever… it’s the highs and the lows. [Getting divorced was] a disappointment. I feel like a failure. I really put it out there. I wanted the fairy tale. I thought I had it. The truth is, I wanted to rip the Band-Aid off so it could start to heal… I’m scared. I’m older. And I want to be able to say to people, ‘It’s about what I do now.’ I never thought I’d be a role model but I think to some people I am or have been.”
Frankel continues: “So this is an important time, because it’s about what I do next. How I handle myself now with grace, with dignity. This is the time now that matters. [Rumours that I chose career over marriage] couldn’t be further from the truth. This has kind of made me say to myself, ‘Oh my gosh, fame is a weird thing, maybe I want to get off the ride.’ It’s going to be a journey and that’s going to get me through this too.”
However, a source tells RadarOnline.com that it’s very much about money for Frankel.
“Bethenny’s biggest concern is the financial hit her empire could take because of the fallout from her divorce,” a source close to the situation [says].
“Bethenny had hoped that the divorce would be amicable, but Jason isn’t going to just stand by and let her have primary custody of their daughter, Bryn. The couple did have an iron-clad prenup, and Jason could make a bid to have it thrown out. Bethenny’s talk show is scheduled to premiere this fall, but producers of the show are carefully watching how the divorce plays out. Bethenny is beyond obsessed with money, sadly. Bethenny has worked tirelessly to control how she is portrayed in the press, and she is watching it now all start to unravel with divorce, and it has her freaked out,” the source says.
“Bethenny feels that all of the hard work that she has done over the past five years to craft and hone her image is just unravelling. Bethenny desperately needs the approval of the public and is obsessed with being in the press, but under her terms. However, she won’t be able to control that as much now that she is getting divorced, and negative details about her life that she has been able to keep private, are going to all come out,” the source says. – via RadarOnline.
