Bethenny Frankel Gets Tips From Ellen On How To Save Her Show
October 9, 2013 by Lindsay Cronin
Bethenny Frankel’s talk show started off strong, but after a few weeks, the ratings started to fall, and Bethenny began to lose viewers. Last night, it was announced that her show had landed in the #13 spot for talk shows behind several lesser-known stars, including Steve Wilkos and Steve Harvey. So, what gives? Apparently, viewers are getting sick of Bethenny’s divorce chatter and her producer boss Ellen Degeneres wants her to stop talking about it all together.
“Ellen wants Bethenny to stop yakking about the divorce because there is a public perception that she’s to blame for the split,” a source close to the situation told Radar Online. “Jason is very sympathetic figure — a doting dad — and quite frankly, many of Bethenny’s viewers and fans don’t understand why she dumped him.”
“Whenever Bethenny opines about how hard the divorce has been on her and bemoans that Jason wasn’t the love of her life, viewers turn the channel,” the source continues. “This is one of the major factors contributing to Bethenny’s very weak ratings.”
When the show first premiered nationwide, its viewership appeared to be on a steady incline, but in the last week, the amount of viewers decreased by 11%.
Still, Bethenny doesn’t seem to be convinced that it is her divorce that is turning people off. In fact, she thinks her divorce is what makes her relatable to her audience.
“Bethenny isn’t used to being told what to do and feels that her audience relates to her,” the insider explained. “She believed the audience understands how hard the divorce is on her. Bethenny will do things her own way, no matter what anyone — including her boss — says.”
