Bethenny Frankel: “I’m Going Through A Brutal, Brutal Time”

Bethenny Frankel is thrilled for the upcoming launch of her daytime talk show, Bethenny, but her happiness in her professional life cannot compete with the turmoil of her personal life. The Skinnygirl cocktail mogul is in the middle of a very public divorce and custody battle with ex-husband Jason Hoppy. Bethenny stopped by ABC’s Nightline to discuss her letdowns and struggles.
The former reality TV star got straight to the point, admitting, “I’m going through a brutal, brutal time. It really, really is. I mean there is no other way to slice it.” Her once perfect marriage was showcased for the world to see and now that it has deteriorated she feels as if she let her fans down. The Bravo spinoff series Bethenny Getting Married and Bethenny Ever After put her relationship front and center. “I was this role model that represented this fairytale,” she said. Bethenny confessed to feeling bruised and broken since her seemingly charming marriage fizzled into a bitter divorce.
Bethenny and Jason’s relationship was played out on the cameras, the good and the bad and Bethenny does not have any qualms. “I don’t regret letting the cameras roll at all,” she said. Bethenny elaborated that instead of cruising by and letting the world think she was living a fairytale, she would show them the truth- warts and all. “It made me feel dirty for people to think I had this perfect relationship and this perfect life,” she said.
As the divorce continues, Bethenny plans to focus on her young daughter Bryn and her daytime talk show. Her rising star will be a welcome change from her heartbreaking personal drama.
