Beyonce Best Thing I Never Had – Music Video

Beyonce followed up her over-the-top music video for Run The World (Girls) with a oddly-juxtaposed music video for Best Thing I Never Had. In the latter, she spends the first half of the video in lingerie through which you can see her near-bare chest – in the second half of the video she’s doing stretches in a wedding dress that’s getting a nasty grass stain.
It’s an inoffensive video; harmless even in its (kind of) partial-nudity, and it’s easier on the ear and the eye than Run The World (Girls).
Beyonce’s follow-up single, from chart-topping album Four, tells the story of she and some dude who plays her in high school; it’s kind of the inverse of the “one who got away,” for people who have issues with closure a decade later. It’s akin to the Halo video; where Run The World (Girls) was akin to certain bombastic videos from the B-Day album. Meh. Beyonce’s got pipes but her power’s always been synching vocals with a more stimulating visual and choreography.
