Brad Pitt Isn’t Done Talking About Jennifer Aniston – Today Interview
September 22, 2011 by Hollywoodite
Brad Pitt spent most of his promotional interview for Moneyball on The Today Show with Matt Lauer talking about and apologising for his comments about Jennifer Aniston in Parade. For the record, this seems not to bother Aniston who’s been walking in circles around NYC clinging onto her boyfriend for dear life EVERY DAY since the interview came out. Pitt’s offered effectively his second apology, following an immediate retraction to the Associated Press.
So, he’s sorry yet Aniston and this renewed “jealousy/ love triangle” drama covered Us Weekly, ITW, and OK! this week. It’s done her no harm, since it’s been Jennifer Aniston Pity Week. It has harmed him to some degree. The public reaction to the Parade interview was… less than positive. Luckily for him, the guys who’ll be paying to watch Moneyball won’t care. Probably not. It’s lucky he’s not doing a rom-com or something with a more broad appeal or this could have affected his box office. Page Six has its own theories about this exact subject…
Despite Oscar buzz, some close to the Sony release are worried that Team Jen’s female following may be turned off by Moneyball, which opens Friday. It wasn’t clear in the first place if women would head out in droves to see a picture about the 2002 Oakland A’s and their general manager, Billy Beane.
“Interest is all male,” said a studio honcho, adding “They’ve tried to hide its subject matter, but it is what it is. They have a little older female interest. But younger females, forget it, that’s just not happening.”
When Extra posed the question, “Are you excited to see this film?,” on Facebook, angry comments were mostly sparked by Anistongate. “NOPE. I don’t like what he said about Jennifer… he went down a big notch!,” wrote one. Another raged, “Not after his stupid remarks about his marriage to Jennifer Aniston. I’ll never watch anything he is in again… LOSER.”
Meanwhile, Us Weekly reported that Aniston’s reps “went ballistic” and “angrily reached out to Pitt’s camp” to force an apology from him. She’s since made a point of being photographed smiling and enjoying herself with new beau Justin Theroux in New York this week.
A rep for Aniston said the “Us story for the most part is untrue. We all know that this is the working of the tabloid world to generate drama that doesn’t exist.” – via Page Six.
Some sidenotes: The rep says the story is mostly not true… what odd wording. So, the cover’s true but with details wrong and some extra trimming to make it a juicier story. Also, today, Us Weekly claims to have an Aniston source, although their sources are pretty unreliable, who denies Pitt’s claims the former couple are still friends, “They don’t talk. She will always think of him as a jerk…She’s 100 percent not speaking to him. He can apologize. But these are two people you will never see in the same room together.”
