Brooks Forester: “I Didn’t Have A Moment Where I Felt I Should Go Back”
August 7, 2013 by Jessica Salem
Brooks Forester was competing for Desiree Hartsock’s love on this season of The Bachelorette, on which he made it to the final three. After allowing Hartsock to fall head over heels in love with him, he realized he was not ready for marriage and decided to exit the competition. His departure left Hartsock inconsolable but she eventually went on to find love with contestant Chris Siegfried.
Forester spoke to Reality TV about his difficult decision and his feelings for Hartsock.
Responding to reports that he immediately regretted leaving and that he was thinking of how he could come back, Forester had plenty to say. “I didn’t have a moment where I felt I should go back and rehash my doubt with Desiree. I know I made the right decision and that was about being honest with Desiree and with myself,” he shared. While he is happy with the choice he made, he did initially miss his former flame. “Were there immediate things that I missed about her? Yes. I was sad and I was sad to see the relationship end,” he admitted.
Throughout the season, fans witnessed Hartsock fall deeply in love with Forester as he remained more reserved with his feelings. He confided to Reality TV that he was hesitant to say those three little words. He explained, “I was cautious in using those words, ‘I love you,’ because I knew what they meant. I think those are some very heavy words.”
His tight knit family aided him in making his final decision. Forester counted on his family to ask those thought provoking questions that he was not thinking about. “It was really just a confidence boost that I was preparing to do the right thing and I worked out my emotions and was looking at things with a healthy perspective,” he said.
Forester is confident with his decision to leave the show and is now happy and still looking for the right women. Meanwhile, Hartsock does not seem to have any hard feelings. Siegfried proposed to her on the show’s finale and she happily accepted.
