Buckwild Producers Abandon Original Cast? Re-Tool Show With New Cast, Network & Locations!
April 14, 2013 by Hollywoodite
Earlier this week, MTV’s hit reality show Buckwild was cancelled in the middle of filming its second season. Ostensibly because of the death of a cast member. Shain Gandee, 21, died while “mudding” in a freak accident that also killed a relative and a family friend.
The cancellation was confirmed by TMZ.com and that report was met with incredulity by an uninformed cast who were kept out of the loop. Then producers expressed that MTV didn’t bother to tell the cast nor crew nor producers before releasing a statement that the show had been cancelled, leaving the whole production in shock at the announcement.
The cast’s reaction was to campaign online for the show’s return (Salwa Amin who’s currently in jail called the effort “disrespectful”). But MTV never even acknowledged the brief halfhearted effort and honestly don’t seem too concerned. They didn’t tell the cast before cancelling altogether and they’re not going to bring the show back because some of the cast is asking for it on Twitter.
Similar to how MTV pulled the plug without telling anyone, producers also seem to have abandoned the original cast.
One of the producers of Buckwild proper, J.P. Williams from Parallel Entertainment, tells TMZ they have already started casting Buckwild’s replacement. They intend to re-tool the show with a new name, new cast(s), new network, and new location(s) with Texas and Alaska already selected and casting calls already taking place.
