Star Mag Still Likes Random Numbers: “Catherine Zeta-Jones & Michael Douglas’ $300 Million Divorce”

Previously, we’ve pointed out that Star Magazine has an odd fondness for fake divorces and random high numbers. If this cover looks familiar, it’s because Star basically used it already. Back in 2012, Star used a “175 Million divorce” headline about the Jenners and then, a year later, used a “$200 million divorce” headline about the same couple (who are still together). Then, it used a “$67 million divorce” headline with Khloe and Lamar (who are also still together). And because Star Mag REALLY like random numbers, it’s claiming Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are going to have a “$300 million divorce.” Heh.

For what it’s worth, the cover says “Catherine & Michael $300 million divorce. Michael moves out. Her battle with mental illness finally tears them apart; He wants lawyer to end ‘years of hell.’ PLUS shocking secrets of their prenup.” Cheap shot about Jones’ bipolar disorder, Star, really low blow. And, no, they’re not splitting; moreover, he openly supports his wife who’s been getting help for her issues.

Here’s a teaser from Jezebel: Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones have not filed for divorce. But the mag claims that Michael is waiting until the Emmys are over to announce a split; she went to a red carpet event by herself — he didn’t show up because he was filming — which is supposed to be proof that they are “rarely under the same roof.” The past few years have been extremely tough because of his cancer diagnosis and her battles with mental illness. Really sad, so a perfect opportunity to speculate about what’s to become of Michael’s “fortune.” If they DID get divorced, it COULD be a $300 million case.
