Celebrity Reactions To Jessica Simpson Giving Birth To Her Baby Girl

Last week, with Jessica Simpson days away from giving birth, a concerned Katy Perry tweeted “Has Jessica Simpson had that baby yet?! I’m getting anxious.” A little more dramatic, Chelsea Handler tweeted: “How has jessica simpson still not given birth to this baby? I’m getting frightened.” People clearly lost track of Simpson’s rough conception date, and the 31-year-old’s own interviews suggesting a May 1 due date. She gave birth May 1; she was never even overdue.
But now that she’s given birth to baby girl Maxwell Drew Johnston (a name revealed by In Touch Weekly in March), there are a bunch of reactions including a contrived “PHEW!” and some more fat-shaming jokes.
Simpson gave birth within about two hours of arriving with family at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. It’s not yet revealed whether Simpson had the rumoured C-section or whether she opted for a natural birth.
According to Us Weekly sources, Joe Simpson ”was really happy and told us [an $80 teddy bear from the Cedars-Sinai Hospital gift shop] was for his new granddaughter. He revealed both baby and mom were doing well.” The patriarch tweeted: “Proud PaPaJoe !! Beautiful baby girl… What a miracle!”
Ashlee Simpson spoke to People Magazine about the birth: “Jessica has wanted to be a mom since we were little girls and I couldn’t be more excited for her and Eric! Bronx and I are in love with Maxwell already!”
Then a bunch of random celebrities tweeted even more random well-wishes:
* Actor Jason Biggs tweeted: “Are the rumors true? Did Jessica Simpson just give birth to a couch?” and, “Jessica Simpson named her baby Maxwell Drew Johnson. But apparently they are already calling her by a nickname, Weather Balloon Johnson.”
* Snooki, earlier accused of fat-shaming Simpson which Snooki denies, tweeted: “Congrats to Jessica Simpson for having a beautiful baby!!! So exciting!”
* Also pregnant Alyson Hannigan tweeted: “Congrats to Jessica Simpson! Does this mean I now have the biggest baby bump in Hollywood?” (yes dear, yes it does).
* Vivica A. Fox tweeted: “Congratulations 2 my girl Jessica Simpson on the birth of a healthy baby girl Maxwell Drew Johnson! What a blessing 4 her n her family.”
* Jenny McCarthy tweeted: “Dear Jessica Simpson. I think pregnant women look perfect just they way they are!”
