Chasing The Saturdays Reality Show Has Been Cancelled Due To Poor Ratings, Lack of Drama
Surprising no one who actually watched the premiere with high hopes only to get bored and turn it off after only a few scenes, The Saturdays’ reality show Chasing The Saturdays has already been cancelled.
The E! show was basically supposed to be Kardashian-like but with a band instead of blood relatives. And The Wanted isn’t far behind with its own reality show–for which, incidentally, this announcement does not bode well.
Chasing The Saturdays debuted back in February to low numbers. Very, very low numbers. Those numbers doubled for the finale, but they’re still less than 1/10 of what competing shows are doing. For example, the Kardashian shows average around 3-4 million viewers per episode and market leaders on other networks like A&E’s Duck Dynasty can pull in 9 million viewers. The Chasing the Saturdays finale only pulled in… 135,000. Yes, that’s supposed to be in thousands.
A source told The Sun: ”It got killed in the ratings. US fans like drama and conflict but The Saturdays actually liked each other.”
A spokesman for The Saturdays tells The Sun the group is currently in talks for a Christmas 2013 special.
