Man Puts Child In Washing Machine Of Laundromat: Is The Kid Okay?
May 22, 2012 by Hollywoodite
A video went viral this weekend showing a man, a woman, and a child, on surveillance footage from a laundromat. The video shows the man stuffing the child into a washing machine and then closing it. At which point, it would appear, auto-lock turns on as does the machine. The pair is clearly frantic, as the machine won’t unlock. The woman runs for aid, which gets there just in time as the machine fills with water.
How is the kid doing? According to the description under the YouTube video: “A couple put their baby in the machine to scare him but it turned out to be a bad idea as the machine had auto lock system and it took the child for a spin. The child suffered minor injuries and is safe.” So the kid is alive and, probably, safe. Mercifully. That said, the child was only a head injury, or drowning, or a scalding, away from this being a completely different outcome if similar reports are anything to go by.
In a comparable story from November 2011, a Frenchman stuffed his naked three-year-old son into a washing machine and turned it on as “punishment” for getting in trouble at nursery school. The toddler died of “a blow to the head” suffered inside the machine. In that case, storied with a history of physical abuse, the father and mother were charged with related crimes.
