Chris Brown Goes To Jail, Uses 50 Cent As His Decoy?
August 6, 2013 by Lindsay Cronin
Chris Brown was reportedly involved in a hit and run earlier this year that is causing him all sorts of legal drama. In addition to the incident possibly leading to a probation violation, Brown was also required to turn himself into prison which he did on Monday afternoon.
According to TMZ, Brown arrived to the Van Nuys jail around 2:00pm yesterday afternoon where he was booked and released on his own recognizance in a matter of just 45 minutes. Brown wasn’t due to turn himself in until August 6, which is today, but in an effort to avoid photographers, he and lawyer Mark Geragos decided to do so a day early.
Working in Brown’s favor was the fact that rapper 50 cent was in court earlier that same morning. While the paparazzi presence was heavy during the case, they cleared out completely after he left which allowed Brown to enter jail without incident.
Two weeks ago, Brown plead not guilty to the hit and run and as a result, his probation was revoked. Also during the hearing, the charges against him for driving without a license and proof of insurance were dropped.
Brown is due back in court on August 15 to re-address the hit and run and again at a later date where his probation will be discussed. Likely, Brown’s probation status will ride on the outcome of the case. If he is found not guilty, that will certainly work in his favor, but if not, he is facing jail time for both the hit and run and the violation.
