Cee Lo Green Talks The Voice Drama: “It’s Getting A Little Old & Inconvenient”
The Voice became rather exhausting, and TMZ Live’s Harvey Levin did a great job of positing why that may have been: The Voice has a great producer, who’s good at creating drama and exacerbating/ inflaming any real tension. Most notably, fanning the rumours about Christina Aguilera’s rows with Adam Levine and his contestant Tony Lucca; the latter supposedly stemming from Lucca and Aguilera being on the Mickey Mouse Club together as kids. Filming season two got so bad, said Lucca, that he (Lucca) wouldn’t even get in an elevator with Aguilera towards the finale.
However, it’s all been a contrived ratings ploy for an otherwise average, dry, formulaic show. And it worked, because The Voice did very well each week and it’ll reportedly be back for season three. Also back for the third season: Aguilera and her drama (sources debate whether she’ll be back; some say she will, while others claim the crew “detests” her and she’s not welcome back… remember, the rumours that she was a drunken, demanding, bloated mess whose ego imposed on everyone and affected everything in the production).
And, nearing the finale, the rumours only intensified. In short, yes, Aguilera is an argumentative, demanding, distracting mess. Something that is indirectly admitted by co-judge Cee Lo Green, who told Us Weekly: “It’s getting a little old and a little inconvenient for everyone. Adam hasn’t come to me and spoken to me [about his issues] and neither has Christina. But whatever it is, I’m hoping that we can get over it. It’s not something that we should carry over into season three. I want the integrity of the show intact.”
A source tells HollywoodLife.com that The Voice crew “hates her,” along with this gem: “When things get heated, on and off set, the people in makeup have been told to go to Christina and work on her so she doesn’t start complaining or yelling. If she starts carrying on and making a scene [with the other coaches], the people in makeup act like a pit crew and rush to her to keep her quiet.”
