Confirmed: LeAnn Rimes & Eddie Cibrian Reality Show Coming to VH1
August 7, 2013 by Hollywoodite
It has been rumoured since 2011 that LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian have been pitching reality shows that would effectively make light of and reward the couple for cheating on their former spouses. At the time, a source told Us Weekly “the deal is nearly done.” That was not the case, clearly. The deal was only done this year and they’ve been picked up by VH1.
The show is being promoted under the working title of “LeAnn & Eddie” since “Cheaters” was taken. Previously, Rimes said the show would take a humourous look at their personal lives. And that’s basically it. She’s not going to be on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, as was also rumoured, she’s got her own eponymous show. The couple ”look forward to sharing a bit of their world,” adding that their show ”will bring the truth and make fun of all the gossip.”
“We are really excited to be working together on a unique show that will give you a glimpse into who we really are or better yet who we’re really not. We’re thrilled to partner with VH1 and The Gurneys [the show’s executive producers] to put our spin on a project full of love, humor and music,” Rimes and Cibrian said in a statement.
The show is basically going to cherry-pick what they feel like showing, that’s their “truth.” Apparently. ”Lots and lots would be off limits”, says the singer. “It might not look like it, but it would be.” For example, We would never do a normal reality show with cameras following us around 24/7. I have two stepkids, they would never be on television. There’s certain things that would never happen.”
Asked why do the show at all, she previously told ET: ”It seems like everyone talks about our lives all the time, so we might as well have fun with our own lives. I mean, people think they know what it is, but it’s really a 180 from what people think they know. People think I serve coffee in a bikini, I might as well start doing in on TV.”
